Our Team

Executive Director - Robert Kim
Robert Kim is a second-year medical school student at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, NY. During the course of his first year, he began to see his classmates struggling around him with burn-out, depression, and anxiety. He began to examine the research and saw that these types of feelings happened across the nation at most Medical Schools. This is what inspired him to make a change and create the Mentorship + Wellness Program.
He is a lover of dogs, netflix, and cheese even though he has lactose intolerance. His favorite saying, is "be you." Short and sweet. In the future, his hopes is to become a child psychiatrist to make lasting changes through programs like this at schools across the country.

Shajoti Rahman is a second year medical student at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. Having finished the first year of medical school, she has observed and experienced the significant amount of stress that medical school students endure on a daily basis. Through research, she hopes to direct the attention toward the care needed for medical school students across the nation and hopes to change the culture associated with it that has been accepted to be the norm.
Shajoti loves to travel, paint, and explore new food. She hopes to practice in the field of Pediatrics and introduce similar programs into regular check-ups to improve wellbeing along with physical health for patients from a young age.

Melissa likes running, string instruments, and Pixar. She once coached an ice hockey team, even though she had never played hockey before, and is interested in pediatrics, health policy, and how public K-12 schools contribute to human health.

Faculty Liason - Mike Levine
Mike is a second year medical student at SUNY Downstate. He studied biology at Emory University in Atlanta before moving to New York City to work as a scribe in various emergency departments. Since beginning medical school, Mike has invested a lot of his time into working with various faculty to improve the presentation of the academic curriculum, the everyday student experience, as well as the orientation program. He hopes to further improve the Downstate community through this mentorship program. Mike places a lot of value in taking time for conscious and active reflection of the present moment. He wants to help medical students appreciate and pride themselves on just how much they've already accomplished in life, the valiant roles they are stepping into, and the exciting road that has still yet to come.
Mike enjoys staying active by running, playing basketball, and rock climbing. He is also an avid cook and viewer of many cooking shows. He hopes to go into emergency medicine and get more involved in medical education after he graduates.
